Cool Story: This is a numbers matching 1st Gen Monte Carlo bouth in Des Moines, IA in the fall of 1970. It stayed around the Des Moines area, 4 owners I believe, until 2021 when we purchased and brought up to Northern Iowa to start the rebuild.

We kept the car as close to the original as we could. It was originally a cloth seat car but had already been changed to vinyl and had a dark blue top...I had to have white! We updated the A/C to a 124A system from Old Air Products/Classic Auto Air. The rear chunk was shot so we opted for the 3:42 Posi unit we purchased from Quick Performance in Ames, Ia.

Most of the work has been performed by myself, my wife Penny, our children and grandkids. Paint and body were completed by Lynn Thayer-Countryside Restorations in Sheffield, IA. Headliner by Pat Baltes Marblerock, IA.

Much thanks to the folks on the 1st Gen Monte Carlo Forum and Monte Facebook pages for the resarch, advice and parts!

Most of all THANK YOU to my Wife Penny for allowing me to do this, helping me, putting up with the moods, countless hours of searching for parts, and the road trips! Could not have done it without you!!!
